Phillips Lake Campground

Arriving at the lake hot and sweaty we decided to go for a swim/bath. Everyone washed off some of the dirt and sunscreen with Dr. Bronners and a few of us swam out to a wooden raft. As we were out on the raft we noticed that the trees in the distance were surrounded in a green haze, and that swirls of small green pollen particles were collecting in the water. The massive pollen clouds were an indicator of the approaching thunder storm. Swimming back to the dock, we managed to quickly set up our tents before the rain started pouring down. To stay out of the rain we cooked a delicious dinner of ramen and creative quesadillas under a small overhang by the bathrooms. The storm was just passing through, and after dinner we played a hilarious game the boys taught us called "signs" and built a blazing fire. Best part- campground was free!
In the morning we had an easy ride; 20 beautiful miles downhill into Baker City. In baker we got delicious food at a local cafe, did some shopping, and of course updated the blog at the local library.
